I. ABOUT THE JOURNAL
The Journal of Health and Aging is a specialized scientific publication focused on publishing medical research on geriatrics, the aging process, and health issues related to the elderly. The journal publishes original research, review articles, clinical case reports, and scientific information related to elderly healthcare, aiming to improve the quality of treatment and health management for this population.
II. ARTICLE TYPES
- Original Research Article: Publishes results of original scientific studies related to elderly health and the aging process. Original research articles should not exceed 4000 words (including abstract, figures, tables, and references).
- Review Article: Synthesizes, analyzes, and evaluates existing knowledge on a specific topic in the field of geriatrics and aging. The article should not exceed 5000 words.
- Case Report: Describes special or rare clinical cases in the elderly. The article should not exceed 2000 words.
- Letter to the Editor: Opinions, contributions, or discussions on articles previously published in the journal. The letter should not exceed 1000 words.
- Forum Article: Discusses issues related to policy, ethics, and social matters in elderly care. The article should not exceed 2000 words.
III. MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION GUIDELINES
A. General Requirements
- All forms must be fully typed. Use the forms provided by the Journal of Health and Aging to reduce initial screening time.
- The manuscript must be in Microsoft Word *.doc or *.docx file format.
- A4 paper size, with 2.5 cm margins on all sides.
- Use Unicode, Segoe UI font, size 12, with 1.5 line spacing.
- Pages must be numbered consecutively.
- The article must be original and not previously published in any other publication.

1. Original Research Article
Title Page and Abstract
- Title:
- Title (in Vietnamese): bold, lowercase letters.
- Author names, affiliations: write full names of authors and emails, do not include titles or academic degrees. Contact information of the corresponding author (email address, phone number).
- Abstract: write a structured abstract of no more than 250 words. Include the following sections:
- Introduction: includes the rationale and objective of the article.
- Materials and Methods
- Results: flexible depending on the type of article.
- Discussion and Conclusions: summarizes the article's findings.
- Keywords: 3-6 words/phrases, using concise and representative terms directly related to the main content of the article.
- Repeat the Title and Abstract in English, which must be a close translation of the Vietnamese equivalent, grammatically correct, and appropriate for a scientific style. The abstract must maintain a similar structure: Introduction; Materials and method; Results; Conclusion.
Main Content
- Introduction: Introduce the research problem, literature review, research objectives.
- Materials and Methods: Describe in detail the study design, inclusion and exclusion criteria, sample size, data collection and analysis methods, ethical issues.
- Results: Present the main findings of the research in text, tables, and figures.
- Discussion: Analyze the significance of the results, compare with previous studies, state the limitations of the study.
- Conclusion: Summarize the main findings and recommendations.
- Acknowledgments: Acknowledge the help of individuals, groups, projects, agencies, and/or organizations that supported the implementation of this review.
- References: Arrange in the order they appear in the article. Each reference citation includes: Author's full name, title of the book (article), journal, year of publication, volume, issue, and page number.

2. Review Article
- Title Page and Abstract: Similar to the original research article.
- Main Content:
- Introduction: Introduce the topic and its importance.
- Content Sections: Systematically present issues by theme.
- Conclusion: Summarize the main points and future research directions.
3. Case Report
- Title Page and Abstract: Similar to the above, the abstract does not need to be structured.
- Main Content:
- Introduction: Introduce the importance of the case.
- Case Presentation: Describe in detail the history, clinical findings, laboratory results, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
- Discussion: Compare with the literature, highlighting the special features of the case.
- Conclusion: Lessons learned from the case.
D. Tables and Figures
- Each table/figure must be numbered and have a clear title.
- Provide sufficient captions so that the reader can understand the content without reading the entire article.
- Images must be of high quality (minimum 300 dpi resolution).
- For images with patients, their identity must be concealed.
- For histopathology images, the staining method and magnification must be specified.
E. References
- Authors must fully cite all references and data sources used, in the order of citation in the article. See instructions and download the journal's style template at Reference Citation Guide for Authors.
- Cite in the style of the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM) according to the Citing Medicine guidelines. Number references in square brackets, arranged in order of appearance in the text, such as [2]; or [1], [3]; or [1], [3-5], ...
- Do not separate Vietnamese and English references.
- Authors are encouraged to use software like Endnote, ReferenceManager, or Zotero for reference citation to avoid typos and duplications.
- Number of references: maximum 40 for a review article, maximum 30 for an original research article, maximum 15 for a case report.

IV. SUBMISSION AND PUBLICATION PROCESS
A. Manuscript File Preparation
When submitting an article, authors need to prepare the documents below. Please use the forms provided by the Journal of Health and Aging to reduce initial screening time:
- Full article file (.docx format) including author information and the manuscript.
- "Author Contribution and Copyright Agreement" form signed by all authors.
- Ethics Committee approval letter (for research involving human subjects).
- Consent form from the patient or their family (for case reports).
B. Submission Process
- Articles are submitted online through the journal's submission system at the website: https://tcsuckhoelaohoa.vn or via email: banthuky@tcsuckhoelaohoa.vn.
- Register for an author account on the system (if you don't have one).
- Log in and follow the online submission instructions.
- Fill in all required information as requested by the system.
- Upload all article files and accompanying documents.
- Confirm and complete the submission process.
C. Peer Review and Publication Process
1. Reception and Registration
- The journal receives manuscripts submitted by authors through the online submission system.
- The manuscript is registered in the reception list, and a confirmation of receipt is sent to the author.
- Processing time: 1-3 working days from receipt of the article.
2. Initial Screening
- The editorial board conducts an initial screening of the manuscript to assess its suitability in terms of content, format, and structure.
- Screening results:
- Manuscript selected: Proceeds to the peer review process.
- Manuscript needs minor revisions: A request for revisions is sent to the author before proceeding.
- Manuscript not selected: Rejected, and the peer review process is stopped.
- The journal sends a notification of the initial screening result to the author within 7-14 working days from the date of receipt.
- The author makes the first revision within 7 days from receiving the screening result.
3. Scientific Peer Review
- Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent to at least 2 independent experts in the same field for review (double-blind principle).
- Reviewers comprehensively evaluate the article for scientific validity, novelty, research methodology, presentation of results, and practical value.
- The review outcome will be one of the following:
- Accept for publication without revisions.
- Accept for publication after minor revisions.
- Request major revisions and resubmission for review.
- Reject for publication.
- Review time: 2-4 weeks from the date it is sent to the reviewer.
4. Handling of Revised Manuscript
- The author resubmits the revised manuscript and a cover letter explaining the revisions made in response to the reviewers' comments.
- The editorial board reviews the revised manuscript to decide on acceptance or to request further revisions.
- Processing time for revised manuscripts: 1-2 weeks after receiving the revised manuscript.
5. Editing and Proofreading
- Manuscripts accepted after peer review are edited by a copy editor for scientific content, language, presentation, and technical elements.
- The edited manuscript is sent back to the author for review and confirmation before publication.
- Processing time: 1-2 weeks.
6. Acceptance and Publication
- The Editor-in-Chief reviews and decides to accept the article for publication.
- The journal sends a formal acceptance notification to the author.
- After publication, the author is provided with a PDF file of the article, DOI information, and the journal issue.
V. PUBLICATION ETHICS AND AUTHOR RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Author Responsibilities
- The article must be an original work and not previously published.
- Do not copy content from other works without proper citation.
- All articles are checked using plagiarism detection software.
- All individuals listed as authors must meet the ICMJE criteria for authorship (significant contributions to the conception, design of the study, data acquisition, analysis, writing, or critical revision of the article).
- The order of authors must be agreed upon by all co-authors before submission.
- Contributors who do not qualify for authorship can be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section.
- Research involving human subjects must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki and be approved by an Ethics Committee.
- Case reports must have the consent of the patient or their legal guardian.
- Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence the research results.
- If there is no conflict of interest, this should be explicitly stated in the article.
- Authors are responsible for notifying the Journal if they discover errors in their published article.
- Authors must cooperate with the Journal in the process of issuing corrections or retractions if necessary.
B. Plagiarism Detection and Violation Handling
- Plagiarism Check: All articles submitted to the Journal are checked using plagiarism detection software.
- Similarity Level: The overall similarity rate should not exceed 25%, excluding the introduction and abstract.
- Handling Violations:
- Rejection of the article or retraction of the published article if ethical violations are detected.
- Banning the author from submitting articles for a certain period or permanently, depending on the severity of the violation.
- Notifying the author's institution or organization of serious violations.
C. Copyright and Archiving
- When an article is accepted for publication, the author agrees to transfer the publishing rights to the Journal of Health and Aging.
- The Journal has the right to publish and distribute the article in electronic and print formats.
- The author retains the right to use the article for personal, teaching, and research purposes with the journal's consent.
- The article is archived in the Journal's database and other scientific databases.
VI. PUBLICATION FEES AND OPEN ACCESS POLICY
- Submission Fee: There is no fee for submitting and reviewing manuscripts.
- Publication Fee: Authors may be required to pay a publication fee after the article is accepted for publication (the fee will be announced on the journal's website).
- Open Access Policy: The Journal of Health and Aging applies an open access policy, allowing readers free access to published articles.
- Copyright: Articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-ND) license.
